Félix Fénéon (1861-1944), Paris, possibly acquired directly from the artist [Lugt 924a]; sold, Hôtel Drouot, Paris, Fénéon sale, May 30, 1947, lot 58 to Theodore Schempp, New York [curatorial notes; Schempp visited in 1971 and told curators that he purchased the drawing from the Fénéon sale and later sold it to Seligmann]; sold to Jacques Seligmann, Paris. Georges Bernheim, Paris [Thannhauser]. Roger Dametal [Thannhauser]. Sold by Justin K. Thannhauser, New York, to the Art Institute, 1964.
