A./ FROM THE COLLECTION OF LORD TAUNTON, QUANTOCK LODGE, SOMERSETSHIRE];probably Edward James Stanley (died 1907); his widow, Mary Dorothy (died 1920), daughter of Lord Taunton, Quantock Lodge, near Bridgewater, Somerset. Captain Eric Villiers [according to the stock book of Arthur Tooth and Sons, London]; sold to Arthur Tooth and Sons, London, April 11, 1930; sold to Theodore Dickinson (died c. 1933), Chicago and Libertyville, Illinois, October 3, 1930 [according to Arthur Tooth and Sons stock book]; by descent to his secretary, Bertha Evans, later Mrs. Robert Andrew Brown, Libertyville, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Andrew Brown, Libertyville, Illinois; given to the Art Institute in 1964.
