1. Sir Wroth Lethbridge, Sandhill Park, Bishop’s Lydeard, near Taunton, Somerset [according to a hand-written label formerly on the back of the canvas, preserved in the conservation file; both the 4th baronet (died 1902) and the 5th baronet were named Sir Wroth]. Ehrich Galleries, New York, by January 1923 [see Burlington Magazine 1923]; sold to Max Epstein, Chicago, by June, 1923 when it was lent to the Art Institute [receipt R1091 in Registrar’s office], died 1954; bequeathed to the Art Institute, 1954.
