- The artist [possibly lent to Paris 1889]; sold to Durand-Ruel, March 13, 1891 [according to Schmit and Schmit 1993; it is possible that the painting is that titled Marché aux Pommes in Durand-Ruel 1892]. Martin A. Ryerson (died 1932), Chicago, by 1914 [for this and the following see Art Institute of Chicago 1914]; intermittently on loan to the Art Institute from 1914; bequeathed to the Art Institute, 1933.
