Thompson, Sr. (died 1927), Lake Forest, Illinois, 1926 [according to the letter cited above]; his widow, Mrs. John R. Thompson, Sr., Lake Forest, Illinois; sold Parke-Bernet, New York, January 15, 1944, no. 32, as Pater, Commedia dell’arte, to her daughter, Florence Thompson Thomas (died 1972), Palm Beach Florida [buyer according to a letter from John R. Thomas to Susan Wise dated November 13, 1981]; bequeathed to the Art Institute, 1973.
